About
TALENTGAL is a five‑year MSCA COFUND postdoctoral programme funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). It is promoted by the Xunta de Galicia for the research centres of the CIGUS Network (Network of Research Centres of the Galician University System) and implemented in collaboration with the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), the Universidade de Vigo (UVigo), and more than 40 associated partners from different sectors.
TALENTGAL will be implemented through two open calls in 2026 and 2027, offering a total of 40 postdoctoral fellowships across the 10 Research Centres of Excellence of the CIGUS Network.
TALENTGAL Call 1 is now open from 20 May to 23 July 2026.
Scientific scope
TALENTGAL aims to foster interdisciplinary and intersectoral research aligned with regional and European research and innovation priorities. Research activities are organised across three main thematic areas: Health & Biomedicine, Science & Life Sciences, and Engineering & Technology.
Candidates are invited to submit their own research project proposals within these thematic areas. For each area, a range of specific research topics has been defined, reflecting the expertise of the participating host institutions. The complete list of research topics can be consulted here.
Characteristics of the fellowships
TALENTGAL Call 1 offers 20 fully funded MSCA postdoctoral fellowships across the participating CIGUS Research Centres: CITIC and CICA (UDC); CIMUS, CiQUS, CiTIUS, CRETUS and IGFAE (USC); and atlanTTic, CIM and CINBIO (UVigo).
Fellowships have a duration of up to 30 months and include mandatory secondments (1 to 3 months), intersectoral training opportunities, as well as academic and non‑academic mentoring support.
Working conditions
- Base salary + social costs: €4,806/month
- Mobility allowance: €500/month
- Family allowance: €300/month (when applicable)
- Relocation support: one-time €2,000 for the initial move
- Additional funding covering research expenses, training, secondments, conferences and networking activities.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates of any age, gender and nationality are eligible to apply, provided they comply with the following conditions:
- PhD requirement: applicants must have obtained their PhD within 8 years before the call deadline.
- Mobility rule: applicants must not have lived or worked in Spain for over 12 months within the last 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
- Publication record: applicants must have at least two peer-reviewed publications, including at least one as first or corresponding author.
