The study on Enhancing Coordination and Synergies in the Field of Ocean Observation in the EU, commissioned by the European Commission, has completed the first phase of its work with the publication of four complementary overviews of the European ocean observation landscape:
- Purpose of ocean observations
- Governance and coordination
- Execution of ocean observations
- Coordination initiatives
Together, these overviews provide a common evidence base to inform discussions on the future development of European ocean observation. They are intended to support dialogue among Member States, European organisations and the wider ocean observation community by identifying strengths, shared challenges and opportunities for improved coordination.
