Join the Biological Recording Company on 9 December to learn about plastic pollution and its impact on reef manta rays in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. Dr Jessica Savage will present her study into the species’ exposure to microplastics and discarded fishing gear, as well as the origins of the debris. Her findings will inform Extended Producer Responsibility recommendations in the Global Plastics Treaty, which is currently being negotiated by the United Nations.
