MPA managers, security professionals, and policy experts across the Indo-Pacific are invited to the virtual seminar, “Tools for Marine Conservation, Coastal Resilience and National Security in the Indo-Pacific Region”. The seminar brings together leading scientists and practitioners—including Purwanto Purwanto of the Coral Triangle Center, Dr. Rusty Brainard of @Orchard LLC, and Dr. Emily Darling of the Wildlife Conservation Center—to showcase cutting-edge tools including the Allen Coral Atlas, MPA Guide, Reef Resilience Network , and Designing Effective Locally Managed Areas in Tropical Marine Environments.
The seminar will also explore how monitoring, adaptation planning, and community-based resilience strategies can strengthen ecosystem health, protect coastal communities, support food security, and improve preparedness for environmental risks, all while fostering a growing regional community of practice around these critical issues. The seminar, hosted jointly by Tellus Civic Science, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and the NOAA National Marine Protected Area Center, will take place virtually on September 22, 2026, from 14:00–16:00 Hawaii Standard Time (20:00–22:00 EDT; September 23 in Jakarta, Manila, Canberra, and Suva time zones).
