Sea Turtles Make a Huge Comeback

This year, Anna Maria Island off the coast of Florida celebrates a huge milestone for sea turtle conservation with volunteers recording 546 nests on the island, breaking a 42-year record. As the nesting season continues into September even more nests will add to that record-breaking number. 2024 also marked the first time that least terns — a tiny, threatened bird species — successfully nested on the island in 15 years.
