The EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) is one of the four EU macro-regional strategies. The Strategy was jointly developed by the Commission and the Adriatic-Ionian Region countries and stakeholders, which agreed to work together on the areas of common interest for the benefit of each country and the whole region. The EUSAIR covers nine countries: four EU Member States (Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia) and five non-EU countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) and addresses four pillars: Blue Growth (1), Connecting the Region (2), Environmental Quality (3) and Sustainable Tourism (4).

This SEArica conference will concentrate on the state of play on implementation of Pillar 1 and on its specific objectives: to promote research and innovation in blue economy sectors, to adapt to sustainable seafood production/consumption and to improve sea basin governance.
