The “Our Ocean Future” side event at the UN Ocean Conference in June – with an equal set up between ECOPs and experienced Ocean professionals, where Asha de Vos voiced many powerful statements about marine science in the Global South and Dr. Sylvia Earle made a surprise appearance at the end. Well, you can now watch the full recording online – and ECOPs highly recommend you do! You can see ECOP’s in action:

  • Inès Boujmil (BlueMed Ambassador in Tunisia, Fisheries & Environmental Engineer at National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies)

  • Sivajyodee Sannassy (Bangor University, UK)
  • Lasuni Chathurima Gule Godage (Ocean University of Sri Lanka via video message).

As well as Ocean leaders:

  • Angelique Pouponneau (Alliance of Small Island States, UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development Advisory Board,
  • Dr Asha de Vos, Oceanswell, Sri Lanka)

This event was moderated by Professor Heather Koldewey, Lead of the Bertarelli Foundation’s Marine Science Programme, Zoological Society of London, with an introduction by Dona Bertarelli, Bertarelli Foundation, and Alison Clausen, IOC UNESCO. More information is available here.

Thanks to Sharmin Rouf and Heather Koldewey for sharing the recording – whilst you’re there, check out the extensive Marine Science Programme webinar series.
