The Laboratory of Integrative Marine and Coastal Ecology at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute -Florida Atlantic University seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to molecular ecology projects in the Caribbean Sea and Florida. This laboratory is a subunit of the Harbor Branch Marine Ecosystem Health Program and focuses on understanding the mechanisms that underlie
changes in marine and coastal ecosystems by studying the structure and dynamics of organisms, populations and communities. The goal of these projects is to understand patterns of connectivity and population structure of marine organisms that are or might become abundant on coral reefs, and their effect at the ecosystem level. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be highly self-motivated, creative and enjoy working individually as well as in a highly collaborative environment. The Fellow will assist with the development of 2bRAD libraries for marine invertebrates, bioinformatic
analyses, field work, manuscripts writing, and training undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. from an accredited institution in evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, ecology, marine science, or a related field required by the time of application.
A strong-peer-reviewed publication record is required.
Experience in 2bRAD methods and population genetics is required.
Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team with scientists, technicians, and students is required.
Ability to travel and perform field work is required.
Valid driver?s license is required.
SCUBA diving certifications are preferred.
Flexible hours may be required for field work.
Salary range:
$48,000 – $50,000
