Lewis & Clark College, a private liberal arts college with about 2,000 undergraduates, invites applications for an adjunct professorship in the Environmental Studies Program beginning Fall 2019. The successful candidate will deliver a sophomore-level Oceanography course that consists of three weekly one-hour lectures and a weekly 3-hour laboratory session (see schedule and course description below). Ph.D. or ABD in Atmospheric, Ocean, Climate Science or a related field required at the time of appointment. Excellent classroom teaching and laboratory instruction at an undergraduate institution is essential. The course material is somewhat flexible, such that the instructor can emphasize their area(s) of expertise within the field of Oceanography. The class size is typically around 10 students.
The College is committed to preparing students for leadership in an increasingly interdependent world, and affirms the educational benefits of diversity. All materials should be addressed to Jessica Kleiss: jkleiss@lclark.edu. Review of applications will begin on Monday, May 13th, and continue until the position is filled. Feel free to contact me ( jkleiss@lclark.edu) with interest.
