Applications from all nationalities (non-Turkish) are invited for full-time tenure-track faculty positions in Middle East Technical University, Institute of Marine Sciences (METU-IMS). METU-IMS is the leading international marine science institute in Turkey with a 100% English education and research. All METU-IMS faculty engage in teaching, research and service towards the overall goal of sustainable of management of marine and aquatic ecosystems based on excellent science. METU-IMS particularly seeks collaborative, multidisciplinary and adaptive candidates to join its young and energetic group of natural scientists located in the seashore Erdemli/Mersin campus of METU.
Faculty search involves all areas of marine and aquatic sciences, but priority will be given to following areas:
- Science and innovation-based blue economy development in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions: ranging from quantitative research on marine products biotechnology, renewable energy and seafloor non-living resources to multidisciplinary areas such as marine environmental socio-economics and integrated management of marine space
- Physical oceanography with a strong emphasis on an empirical, seagoing field research focus that uses state of the art observational tools
- Aquatic microbial ecology to ecosystem ecology, including benthic and pelagic marine biology, with a clear empirical, seagoing field research focus
- Paleoceanography; focusing on marine and aquatic sediment archives for a quantitative reconstruction of the history of environmental changes in the region
