Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) and Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) are pleased to announce that the 2018 POGO Visiting Fellowship for Shipboard Training on an Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) Cruise is now open for applications.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to visit Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) in the UK, for one month prior to the start of the cruise to participate in cruise preparation and planning; to go on the cruise (24th September to 29th October 2018) and help make hydrological, bio-optical and/or ecological observations; and after the cruise to spend approximately one additional month at PML, learning to analyse the results statistically and interpret them.

This year, one fellowship is being offered and the successful candidate will conduct research on the topic of ‘Phytoplankton size distribution along an Atlantic Meridional Transect’, under the supervision of Dr Giorgio Dall’Olmo and Dr Glen Tarran of PML.  The applicant needs to contact the prospective supervisors with a short CV and a statement of interest outlining their current research and what they hope to gain from the training no later than Friday 13th April 2018, to allow sufficient time for the supervisor to consider the application before the submission deadline and issue an acceptance letter.

For full details on the fellowship, and to submit an application, please visit http://www.oceantrainingpartnership.org/AMTfellowship2018

The deadline for applications for the 2018 fellowship is Sunday 22nd April 2018. All applicants will be informed of the decision within two months of the deadline.

The fellowship flyer is also available to download at: http://www.oceantrainingpartnership.org/sites/default/files/POGO-PML_AMT_fellowshipflyer_2018.pdf

Please e-mail pogoadmin@pml.ac.uk should you have any queries and feel free to circulate this announcement to anyone you think might be interested.

Best wishes,
