Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the MaREI centre in University College Cork (UCC), based at the Beaufort Building, Haulbowline Rd, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, Ireland.

The Offshore Renewable Energy Development Plan (OREDP) published by DCENR in 2014 (www.dccae.gov.ie/energy/en- ie/Renewable-Energy/Pages/ OREDP-Landing-Page.aspx) identified offshore wind energy as a key resource. The MaREI Centre is currently engaged in offshore wind energy research, which will involve a multidisciplinary research team working in the areas of data and energy management, new energy markets, logistics, governance, environmental etc. The MaREI Centre is co-ordinating Eirwind, an industry-led research project with a number of industry partners, to develop a development plan.

This position is under the Eirwind work-package on ecosystem governance, where the Post-Doctoral Researcher will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator/ Work Package Leader. The researcher is expected to take a lead in the collection and monitoring of socio-economic marine data to estimate the value and economic development potential of the offshore wind sector for Ireland according to various scenarios. The research should describe, model and analyse the current state of the offshore wind sector considering political, economic, social, technical, legislative and environmental aspect; simulate scenarios using futures research techniques; and recommend evidence-based policy interventions to aid the development of the sector.
