WALTER AND ROSALIE GOLDBERG PROFESSORSHIP in Tropical Ecology
The Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University (FIU, http://biology.fiu.edu) is pleased to announce the Walter and Rosalie Goldberg Professorship in Tropical Ecology. We seek a top scholar in any area of tropical ecology. The successful candidate will be expected to have an exceptional publication record, bring and maintain an active externally-funded research program, participate in the Biology graduate program, as well as teach a course in their area of expertise. The minimum requirements are a doctoral degree from an accredited institution, full professor or equivalent status, and a demonstrated record of achievement in academic research, teaching and service.
The ideal candidate will exhibit an interdisciplinary approach to research that will complement existing expertise within the Department of Biological Sciences and between Biology and allied science departments. The Department of Biological Sciences, in the School of the Environment, Arts, and Society (http://seas.fiu.edu) within the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, has ~5,000 majors and 120 graduate students in fields ranging from cell and molecular biology to evolution and ecology. Tropical Research is an area of preeminence at FIU with several institutes and centers relevant to tropical ecology including FIU Tropics (http://tropics.fiu.edu) that includes the International Center for Tropical Botany (http://ictb.fiu.edu) and the Tropical Conservation Institute (http://tci.fiu.edu) and the Institute of Water and Environment (http://inwe.fiu.edu), which includes the Southeast Environmental Research Center (http://serc.fiu.edu), the Sea Level Solutions Center (http://slsc.fiu.ed
u) and the Center for Coastal Oceans Research (http://ccor.fiu.edu).
