The Department of Fisheries, Animal and Veterinary Sciences in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) at the University of Rhode Island seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Sustainable Aquaculture. We seek highly qualified candidates who investigate sustainable aquaculture that aims to balance productivity and economics with the health of ecosystems. We welcome applicants who study any group of organisms in any type of aquatic system, and who work with the aquaculture industry and multiple stakeholders. Candidates must have a PhD in Aquaculture, Biological Sciences, Fisheries, Environmental Science, Conservation Science, or closely-related field and 1 year of postdoctoral experience at the time of application. We seek a colleague who will supervise an independent, extramurally funded research program; provide research training for graduate and undergraduate students; teach an interdisciplinary general education course (i.e., “Grand Challenges” Course) and other relevant courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in CELS; contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration for the study of aquaculture systems addressing coupled environmental, economic, and sociocultural aspects.
