The Fisheries Department of the Falkland Islands Government invites applications for the post of Fisheries Stock Assessment Scientist. The contract is initially for two years with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement. Candidates should have the ability to apply standard fish stock assessment techniques and develop new approaches for fishery management on the basis of the assessments. The successful applicant will be expected to provide timely management advice to the Falkland Islands Government mainly for the management of Patagonian toothfish and Illex squid on a long-term sustainable basis. The candidate will also undertake and supervise the Fisheries Department’s responsibilities to meet Marine Stewardship Council conditions on Patagonian toothfish. He/she should be capable of working as part of a small, dedicated team and contribute to the scientific work.

The contract package includes:

Airfares to and from the Falklands at the beginning and end of contract
Mid-contract leave with return passage fares
Annual leave of 30 working days
End of contract gratuity of 25% of total salary
