The Maritime Environmental Protection Adviser (EPA(M)) will be involved with a variety of maritime environmental protection aspects across Navy Command (NC). This primarily concern the vessels and activities of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and our Naval Bases. The successful candidate will work to the Senior EPA(M) but will have no subordinate staff.
EPA(M) will provide subject matter advice to NC and other MOD staff, support the assessment of environmental impacts of maritime activities and maintenance of NC’s environmental management system. Based principally at NCHQ, regular travel across the UK should be expected and some overseas travel is possible.
The specific functions of the post will initially be dependent upon the successful candidate’s experience but is anticipated to include:
• Support NC’s maritime environmental management processes related to environmental impact identification and assessment.
• Manage NC’s interactive Environmental Protection Guidelines system.
• Provide a NC “help desk” for marine conservation and maritime pollution control policy and practice.
• Maintain NC’s “Navysafe” maritime environment web pages.
• Represent the NC’s operational interests to other MOD areas to ensure that MOD environmental policy and practice is effective.
• Support the MOD lead for environmental protection policy related to underwater sound created by MOD activity.
• Provide NC senior management with reports and briefs as necessary.

Banked Scores
Candidates that reach the minimum required pass mark will have their results saved as a banked score against the following tests:
· Numerical Reasoning Test
· Verbal Reasoning Test
When a candidate has a banked score they’re not asked to re-take the same test providing it is set at the same level. Scores will be banked for a 6 month period from the date of test completion. If a candidate is invited to take the same test against multiple vacancies, the banked score will be recognised against all vacancies and all active candidates will progress. CSJT scores cannot be banked as each test is generated from the competencies required for a specific role which will vary between recruitment campaigns.
If candidates have a banked score for the CSIST test prior to the 1 December 2017, this will not be saved as a banked score against any of the new tests (e.g. Numerical Reasoning or Verbal Reasoning).
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
