The Institute of Marine Research has a vacant permanent 100 % position as a researcher in the group for reproduction and developmental biology. The position is located at our research station at Austevoll.

Main tasks

The work tasks will consist of independent project work which includes writing research proposals, project management, experimental studies, fieldwork, data management, report writing and publishing.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate who holds a PhD in fish physiology and development.

It is further required that you have experience with

  • experimental studies and fieldwork
  • research on the effects of anthropogenic disturbances on the fish’s early life history
  • work with fish larvae
  • experimental and analytical techniques in image analysis
  • microscopy/video microscopy
  • electrophysiology and behavioral analysis

The working language at the Institute of Marine Research is Norwegian, and good communication skills in Norwegian will be beneficial for both the applicant and the Institute of Marine Research. Sufficient progression in learning to speak and write Norwegian is expected during the first two years of employment. If necessary, language training will be offered and costs incurred will be reimbursed based upon completion of the language courses.
