VLIZ recruits engineer/scientist for the Marine Robotics Centre

The VLIZ Marine Robotics Centre is pushing boundaries to innovate measurements techniques and to facilitate the adoption of autonomous marine systems in marine research and in the blue-economy.

Join us and become part of the VLIZ Marine Robotics Centre

In a new innovation project (funded by VLAIO), Coastbusters 2.0, research institutes (ILVO and VLIZ) collaborate with companies (Jan De Nul, DEME and SIOEN) to explore the potential of nature inspired designs for coastal protection. Within this framework, VLIZ is responsible for the development and implementation of new measurement techniques to study and monitor the development of mussel reefs on the Belgian Coast. The proposed techniques encompass high resolution acoustic mapping methods (multibeam, side scan sonar) and surveys with marine autonomous systems (AUV, USV,…) to measure large scale reef evolution. Furthermore, VLIZ will develop a smart mooring to investigate small scale dynamics of the reef.

To strengthen the Marine Robotics Centre, VLIZ is hiring a marine engineer/scientist  to enroll in the team of the Coastbusters 2.0 project.
