Background

The Research Group Aquaculture and Marine Biomimetics conducts research in the field of fish nutrition, aquaculture system technology to improve economics and sustainability, species diversification and microalgae production and microalgae based added value products.

Tasks

The Research Group Aquaculture and Marine Biomimetics is currently coordinating the research project eintitled monitorshrimp, which aims to apply digital object detection techniques to quantify the number, size and condition of shrimp present in any given production unit. This application will lead to a more sutainable efficient shrimp production in the future as it will allow for example tailored feed management, faster identification of unhealthy individuals. Within the first project year we succeeded with high efficiencies in object detection using densitymap models. The applicant is asked to bring in his/her knowledge to develop the present model to a more robust pre- commercial state.

Requirements

  • Master degree in artificial intelligence engineering, computer vision, deep learning or comparable study programme
  • Practical experience with digital object recognition
  • Experience in building convolutional neural networks architecture
