Die Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH supports the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in realizing its funding objectives. ZUG oversees international and national funding programs on behalf of the BMU and helps to implement a large number of key political issues in the area of ​​environmental, nature and climate protection as well as climate adaptation.

ZUG oversees the international climate protection initiative (IKI – www.international-climate-initiative.com) and runs an advice center for the EU funding program LIFE in Bonn. Furthermore, various national funding programs such as the funding program measures to adapt to the consequences of climate change, the funding program “Marine Debris Framework – Regional hubs around the globe” (Marine: DeFRAG) as well as measures and projects for the implementation of the action program Climate Protection 2020 and the Climate Protection Plan 2050 accompanied.

As a technical project manager you will independently supervise essential tasks of the program implementation and take care of the technical supervision of orders and funding projects.

Tasks

  • Technical support for projects and support for cross-project tasks for the implementation of the international climate protection initiative
  • Technical review of funding applications and offers
  • Examination of interim reports / interim reports and final reports / proof of use as well as requests for changes

Requirement profile

  • Completed scientific university degree (master’s or university diploma) in the field of marine biology, environmental policy, biology, environmental sciences with reference to marine biodiversity or in another relevant course of study
  • Experience in the areas of: protection and sustainable use of marine and coastal ecosystems, global processes for the protection of the oceans, including UN conventions, cross-border marine protection approaches, sustainable fisheries, blue economy, blue carbon.
  • Knowledge in the field of international biodiversity and climate policy, the international negotiations on the Biodiversity Convention and the goals for sustainable development, especially with a focus on marine ecosystems
  • Experience in international development cooperation, preferably with an explicitly international background
  • Knowledge of funding management
  • Knowledge of project management and strategic communication
  • Understanding of legal and budgetary contexts
  • Ability to deal interactively with different actors on an international and national level
  • Good rhetorical skills and a confident writing style, very good verbal and written expression in German and English, other foreign language skills are desirable
  • Pronounced target group-oriented communication skills
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • Pronounced digital skills, mastery of common MS Office products & tools for data analysis
  • Willingness to travel on business
