Human exposure to micro- and nanoplastics (MNP) and its effects on human health are largely unknown. For the Horizon-2020 project PlasticHeal the Working Group “Anthropogenic Particles” in the Department of Analytical Chemistry is seeking at the earliest date possible.

Your Tasks:

  • Research in the frame of the Horizon-2020 project PlasticHeal with European-wide cooperations
  • Improvement of analytical methods for MNP quantification in food and other exposure media
  • Development of standardized procedures
  • Imaging methods for MNPs in tissue and organs
  • Determination of external and internal human exposure to MNPs together with partners
  • Responsibility for the UFZ contribution to the project consortium

Your Profile:

  • Excellent PhD in analytical chemistry, environmental sciences, food chemistry or equivalent
  • Documented expertise in microplastics analysis with spectroscopic / microscopic techniques or LA-ICP-MS
  • Experience in analysis of anthropogenic particles
  • High motivation and interest in multi-disciplinary international research cooperation directed to human exposure
  • Proficient English language skills, preferably also German
