The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Chair/Distinguished/Full Professor in Ocean Environment and Ecology for the newly established Centre of Regional Ocean (CRO). We are seeking candidate with a distinguished record in research and education.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The emphasis of our programmes is directed to the areas of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources. The objective of our undergraduate programme is to educate and train the students to be civil engineers with formation of good scientific knowledge, sound engineering practice and leadership skills; and to prepare them for their advanced education at international standard. Currently, it has 19 full-time academic staff, around 220 undergraduates and 110 graduate students. UM is among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Sciences Indicators) rankings in Engineering. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the top 125.

The Centre for Regional Ocean (CRO) is a newly established research centre with the purpose of advancing the research performance of UM in Faculty of Science and Technology including civil and environmental engineering, mathematics and materials in response to the strategic positioning of Macau in the Greater Bay Area. The expected outcomes include local environment and ocean protection, environmental remediation technology output, increased output of regional and international impact and enriched research agenda across disciplines.

Qualifications
The candidates must have an earned PhD Degree in related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in Ocean environment.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2020 or earlier.

Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,170,400 (approximately USD144,490) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
