About the position

The Academic and Student Affairs Division at Nord University has a vacancy for a permanent full- time position as a senior adviser with internal project management responsibility in the University Alliance SEA-EU.

The members of the alliance are the University of Cadiz (Spain), the University of Western Brittany (Brest, France), Kiel University (Germany), the University of Gdansk (Poland), the University of Split (Croatia), the University of Malta (Malta), the Parthenope University of Naples (Italy), the University of Algarve (Portugal) and Nord University (Norway).

SEA-EU will strengthen the field of research and education, and together the alliance will promote internationalisation, sustainability, digital transformation, transparency and democracy. The aim is to become an international role model for interaction within the EU, and a key element of the alliance is collaboration on higher education and research activities.

The project has funding from the EU for the next four years. The funding amount is approximately EUR 14.4 million in total, and Nord University’s share of this is approximately EUR 1.7 million.

We are now looking for a project manager who will be Nord’s administrative coordinator for the project.

We are looking for an employee with an interest in internationalisation, with good knowledge of higher education and research, and who can contribute to being a driving force and coordinator for both Nord University and the European collaboration.

The office location for the position is Bodø.

Duties and responsibilities

Project management and coordination of the alliance internally at Nord University, and with respect to our partners and stakeholders in the project. This includes:

  • Being the point of contact for overall project management in the alliance
  • Contact with regional partners from e.g. research, the public sector and business
  • Analysis and reporting
  • Secretarial duties as necessary
  • Investigations if necessary
  • Planning, coordination and participation in meetings and conferences nationally and internationally
  • Following up on milestones and deliveries from the faculties and departments at Nord University
  • Being a driving force for collaboration and development, and contributing to anchoring the project in the university
  • Handling internal and external communication in the alliance and its activities
  • Some travel should be expected

Qualification requirements

  • Good knowledge of higher education and research, both nationally and internationally. Experience with project management of larger projects
  • Knowledge of financial management and accounting
  • Administrative competence
  • Very good oral and written presentation skills in English and Norwegian
  • Good IT skills
  • For appointment as a senior adviser, a relevant education from a university or college, a master’s degree or equivalent is required. Long and relevant practice can compensate for parts of the education requirement
  • For appointment to the position of senior adviser, it is also a prerequisite to have extensive relevant professional administrative experience and high-level specialist qualifications adapted to the functions of the position

Qualified applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:

  • Experience from EU projects/international academic work will be emphasized
  • Experience from public administration will be emphasized.
  • An ability to work systematically, structured and independently with several parallel processes
  • Service attitude, enterprising and with good collaboration and communication skills
  • Have knowledge and experience from large organizations with a high level of administrative and technical complexity
  • Experience with the use of relevant ICT tools
  • Have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Major importance will be placed on personal suitability

We offer

The position is remunerated according to the state’s salary regulations.

Alternatively code 1364 senior adviser – Salary scale 70 – 78 (NOK 661,400 – 790,100 per year)

Salary according to seniority and qualifications. A higher salary can be agreed for particularly qualified applicants. A statutory salary deduction is paid into the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
