GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is a foundation of public law jointly financed by the Federal Republic of Germany (90 %) and the state of Schleswig-Holstein (10 %) and is one of the internationally leading institutions in the field of marine sciences. Currently GEOMAR disposes over an annual budget of approx. 80 million Euro and has approx. 1000 employees.

Job Description

The successful candidate will facilitate the communication among project partners, strengthen the outreach activities of the project, organize project meetings, write project reports and support the coordinator of the GEOSTOR project. The GEOSTOR project aims to develop a roadmap for large-scale storage of CO2 in sub-seabed geological formations in the German sector of the North Sea. It will quantify geological storage potentials, identify and investigate possible storage locations, assess environmental risks, develop novel monitoring techniques, study the legal framework and estimate costs for offshore CO2 transport and storage.

Qualification

  • Master degree
  • Expertise in project management
  • Very good written and spoken English skills

and

  • Motivation to facilitate the cross-disciplinary approach of the project
  • Ability to understand major aspects of the work program

The position is funded for a period of three years. The salary depends on qualification and could be up to the class 13 TVöD-Bund of the German tariff for public employees. This is a part-time position according to 50 % of a full-time equivalent. Flexible working time models are generally possible.
