The Post
Applications are invited for a new position in Earth observation of Aquatic Environments, to be appointed on either the Grade 8 (lectureship) or Grade 9 (up to Associate Professor) level within the Division of Biological and Environmental Sciences. This exciting position will complement the capability of the rapidly growing EO team, widely recognised as world leading with extensive NERC (UK) and Horizon 2020 funding. The successful candidate will work in the area of Earth observation, adding capability within one or more of the areas of water quality, quantity and ecological assessment exploiting optical, thermal and/or radar remote sensing within freshwater (including wetlands) and/or marine (including transitional) environments. More broadly the candidate will be expected to exploit these EO capabilities in environmental and resource management. Applicants with expertise in sensor development and deployment from unmanned and airborne platforms are also welcome.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD in Remote Sensing or related discipline including Earth Science, Environmental Sciences or (Geo)Physics, have a strong publication record, a commitment to growing the research capability and capacity in EO at Stirling and more broadly within the area of aquatic sciences research. Candidates wishing to be appointed at Grade 9 must also demonstrate significant grant capture success. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake and lead internationally excellent research, deliver high quality relevant teaching, provide appropriate administration support and other activities in Biological and Environmental Sciences, and integrate with activities across the Faculty of Natural Sciences to support and develop the Faculty’s academic profile.
