*POSITION OVERVIEW*
The CNMI Division of Coastal Resources Management is seeking to hire a
full-time *Marine Biologist II* to work in the Long-Term Marine Monitoring
Program (LTMMP).  The LTMMP assesses and monitors the health of coral reefs
and associated marine habitats across the CNMI. The data collected by the
LTMMP provide crucial information on the natural and anthropogenic
stressors impacting marine ecosystems, the factors contributing to reef
resilience and vulnerability, and the efficacy of specific management
actions. This information then feeds into adaptive management strategies.
The successful applicant will provide support for all LTMMP activities and
related projects. United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident
status is required.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
?        Assist with all aspects of in-water ecological surveys, including
planning, preparation, and data collection.
?        Data management and analysis.
?        Assist in the writing and preparation of reports, scientific
manuscripts, and grant proposals.
?        Assist with boat and gear maintenance.
?        Participate in public education and outreach activities.
?        Perform other related duties as assigned, including, but not
limited to, permit/EIS review, environmental damage assessment, permit
site inspection,
and other research to address management issues
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
?        Bachelor?s Degree from an accredited university in Marine
Biology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or
related field, plus one year of professional experience.
?        Experience with ecological data analysis and statistics.
?        SCUBA certification level equivalent to PADI Open Water, *plus*
50 logged dives
?        Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
?        Must be comfortable on small boats on open water
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
?        Master?s Degree from an accredited university in Marine Biology,
Biology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or related
field
?        SCUBA certification level equivalent to PADI Rescue Diver
?        Experience researching or working on coral reefs and related
ecosystems, preferably in the western Pacific region
?        Experience with taxonomy and *in situ* identification of western
Pacific coral reef organisms, particularly food fishes
?        Experience with marine monitoring methodologies, particularly
stationary point counts (SPCs) for fish population assessments and belt
transect surveys.
?        Experience with database management
?        Experience with geographic information systems
