Coastal ecologist Katharyn Boyer joins Dive In with Liz & Sylvia

Dr. Katharyn Boyer began teaching and research at San Francisco State University in the Department of Biology in 2004. She is an Associate Professor in the Biology College of Science and Engineering. Her interest in estuaries and coasts began at a young age on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, and later to California and Chapel Hill, North Carolina to pursue graduate degrees and postdoctoral work. Her lab at the Estuary & Ocean Science Center – consists of graduate students, undergraduates, and research technicians who share the common goal of using sound science to inform how best to restore and conserve coastal habitats, especially in the face of climate change. Their research focuses on foundational habitats, including tidal marshes, seagrass beds, and oyster reefs.

DIVE IN with Liz and Sylvia is a casual, free-flowing, and educational conversation and encourages ocean and nature enthusiasts of all ages to join. Sylvia, Liz, and Kat will take questions via Q & A text and voice call-in from the attendees.
