Description

Shawn Slevin is the Founder of the Swim Strong Foundation.  The Foundation’s mission is to save and change lives through water safety education and teaching swimming skills.  It provides affordable swim programs to STOP drownings. They guide students from age three through adulthood toward healthy lifestyles via exercise, proper nutrition, and competitive sports.

Their education series Know Before You Go!™ is an essential water safety education series tailored to a variety of age groups and group sizes that can be delivered in person, remotely, or in a hybrid fashion with the help of digital platforms like Google Classroom and Zoom. This series focuses on the life-threatening risks associated with different bodies of water, from inside our homes to lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Whether you know a lot about water safety or very little, you will be challenged to think about water in a very different way.  Their goal is to give you the knowledge to make decisions that will keep you safe in, on, and around water.

Shawn will be available to discuss and answer questions regarding rip currents; what causes them, how to identify them, and how to navigate them safely, safety at water parks and while boating, and the seasonal dangers of tropical storms, hurricanes, ice, and flooding.  If you spend a lot of time near any bodies of water, especially with kids, this may be a very important episode.

DIVE IN with Liz and Sylvia is a casual, free-flowing, and educational conversation and encourages ocean and nature enthusiasts of all ages to join. Sylvia, Liz, and Shawn will take questions via Q & A text and voice call-in from the attendees. Get your questions ready!
