Dr. Terrence Gosliner received an A.B. degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Biological Sciences. His Master’s Degree is from the University of Hawai’i in Zoology and his Ph. D. is from the University of New Hampshire. He taught Zoology at the University of New Hampshire. He is Senior Curator at the California Academy of Sciences, where he has worked since 1982. As Provost of the Academy, he was responsible for the integration of research, education, exhibits and the aquarium functions. His research focuses on the evolution of nudibranchs and other sea slugs.

Since 1992, he has focused his research on the nudibranch fauna of the reefs of the Philippines, documenting the most diverse marine ecosystems of the world. He was instrumental in developing the Philippine coral reef exhibit at the Academy and has worked actively to strengthen ties with Bay Area Filipino communities. He also has extensive experience in building collaborations to support sustainable management and conservation of the rich reefs of the Philippines.
