The Institute of Marine Research, Norway has an immediate opening for a 4 years Post Doctoral position in the research group for Demersal Fish. The principal areas of research for the current postdoc position in population modelling will be in development of the Management Strategy Evaluation tool, working with a dedicated programmer to link together a set of different models with varying complexity, and in developing and analysing case studies to test the tool. Research topics will include developing the linkage between models, developing and analysing management strategies, and analysing the relative importance of different sources of uncertainty.

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree involving modelling, for example via applied mathematics, applied statistics, fish population modelling, ecological modelling or a related quantitative field. Experience of fisheries modelling, and especially Management Strategy Evaluations, is an advantage but not a requirement.
