Postdoctoral/Sr. Postdoctoral Associate – School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences

The Gobler Laboratory within the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University (http://www.somas.stonybrook.edu/…/facul…/christopher-gobler/) seeks to hire a full-time post-doctoral associate with expertise in the application of high throughput sequencing and other molecular techniques to answer questions related to the ecology and the physiology of aquatic plankton and microbes. Applicants must have a PhD in Biology, Marine Science, Bioinformatics or related field and a background in analyzing high throughput sequencing data sets (transcriptomic, genomic, metatranscriptomic, metagenomic). Preference will be given to appropriate candidates with background in comparative genomics, experimental approaches with plankton, and/or harmful algal blooms. This one year appointment is renewable after the first year pending satisfactory performance.
