We are seeking a talented and creative marine ecologist to co-ordinate the Capturing our Coast (CoCoast) research project for the University of Portsmouth Southern regional hub. CoCoast is a national marine citizen science programme addressing questions on anthropogenic threats to intertidal community structure and biodiversity, engaging a unique network of volunteers in the data collection process. Working autonomously with instruction from the research leader, the post holder will provide co-ordination for the volunteers in the southern region; implement experimental protocols and give volunteer training and support. In this outward-facing position the candidate will also engage with the other project partner organisations from the UK and will have to communicate complex science to a range of audiences and target groups. The successful candidate will have a track record in marine/coastal science research and engagement.
This post is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund. Willingness to work flexible hours (weekends and evenings) is essential for this position.
