There are still a number of fully funded places available on our Community Science Camps in 2023.  Earthwatch Science Camps offer early-career environmental researchers, those undertaking Masters degrees, or those considering or already undergoing a PhD, the exciting opportunity to learn about and explore the role of community engagement in environmental research. A recording of a recent introduction webinar will give you a flavour of what to expect.  As part of our commitment to improving equity in science we are reaching out specifically to universities and institutions who demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and support for students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Through our work with the NERC Engaging Environments Programme we were able to deliver an on-line course in 2021 which brought together a rich and varied selection of voices and perspectives around co-creation in science, the role and possibilities of citizen science in community engagement, science communication and storytelling and equity in science. We would love to see this diversity reflected in the participants. We have funding to deliver this course in person in Oxford in 2023 and are excited about the possibilities of supporting a new cohort to connect, network and grow.  More details and application forms can be found here: science camps (earthwatch.org.uk)

The training runs over 5 days and we have the first session is in March from Monday 20th – Friday 24th March. Training will be a mixture of workshops, discussions, on-line curated sessions plus re-corded interviews to offer all the benefits of multiple voice and perspectives. Sadly, we don’t have funding for travel costs, but once you are here we all food and accommodation is included. We can promise enriching debate, multiple perspectives, campfires and woodland walks – a great way to start 2023.
