Multidisciplinary Capacity-Building: Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development – 06 November to 16 December 2024.

As part of the Foundation’s South-South cooperation strategy, this innovative initiative is aimed at the African academic communities, the AGUYEN network and the Early Career Ocean Professionals Programme (ECOP Africa). In partnership with the National Institute for Fisheries Research (INRH) & Early Career Ocean Professionals Regional Node ECOP Africa. This programme is in line and supported as an activity of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

This course is open to African students and young professionals (aged 18-35) with a university degree in ocean sciences or an interest in this field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Engineering or Doctorate). Professional fluency in French or English is required. Register here.

Multidisciplinary Capacity-Building

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to sustainable coastal management.
In line with its South-South cooperation strategy, the Foundation is launching a comprehensive capacity-building initiative for African university communities, the AGUYEN network, and Early-Career Ocean Professionals ECOPs. This pilot program, in collaboration with the National Institute for Fisheries Research (INRH), the African Green Universities Youth & Education Network (AGUYEN), and ECOP Africa, is part of the Foundation’s efforts within the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). Its main goal is to empower young African leaders by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive ocean sustainability through a multidisciplinary approach.
The program aligns with the Ocean Decade Challenge N°09: Enhancing skills, knowledge, and technologies, and Challenge N°10: Shaping a sustainable relationship between humanity and the ocean.

  • Gain a deep understanding of ocean dynamics and their planetary interactions
  • Master techniques and best practices for ocean conservation
  • Build analytical skills to address the complexities of sustainable development
