Every year selected NANO alumni meet with representatives of the Nippon Foundation and POGO Secretariat to review the progress of the NANO activities and to make detailed plans for the upcoming year. These generally include general updates on NANO, presentations on the regional research and outreach projects, and break-out discussion sessions devoted to each project.

Stellenbosch 2015

NANO members met in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in December 2015 to discuss the progress of the Network. The location and time of the meeting were chosen to coincide with the arrival of students of the Floating Summer School on the RV Polarsten, where participants from Africa were funded by NF-POGO.

Lisbon 2014

A NANO coordination meeting was held in Lisbon, Portugal, in October 2014. A groups of NANO alumni and Network coordinators met to discuss the progress of the Regional Research projects and the Outreach project.

Berlin 2013

A NANO coordination meeting was held in Berlin, Germany, from 5th to 6th of December 2013. The meeting was mostly focused on further development of 4 regional research projects. In addition, the meeting initiated the creation of an Outreach component in the Network: it is to support NANO alumni in outreach activities in their regions.

Ihlabela 2012

A small meeting of the regional coordinators of NANO projects took place on 21 November 2012 in Ilhabela, Brazil. This was held back-to-back with the “Oceans and Society: Blue Planet” Symposium, which the POGO Secretariat and several NANO Friends, as well as several alumni were attending.

Abingdon 2011

The second NANO coordination meeting took place in Abingdon, England in September 2011. In Abingdon, it was decided to create NANO Regional Research Projects and project proposals were drafted.
