In order to foster new international relationships during Covid-19, Den Helder decided to start a new series of meetings by the name of Sea’Ties – Blue Cities Round Table as a side-event to the EMD. The mayors of Ravenna, Cork and Brest have embraced this initiative.
The Blue Cities Round Table meeting is inspired by the SEA’TIES declaration in Brest during the One Ocean Summit in February 2022: “While cities are at the forefront of increasing climate disasters, they are also the first responders to climate-induced changes. As hubs of innovation and creativity, many cities around the globe have started to implement diverse mitigation and adaptation measures at local levels”.
