CLIVAR-GOOS-ICTP Workshop: From Global to Coastal – 15-17 August 2022, Trieste, Italy & Online

Through recently conducted reviews, communities are recognizing the overarching need for: 1) Expansion of long-term observations into the coastal zone, where humans interact with the ocean and 2) Multi-disciplinary observing systems that better track oxygen minimum zones, the carbon cycle, and productivity.

To address the above-mentioned needs, this workshop was proposed by the CLIVAR community, with the support from Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) and partners. This workshop will bring members across different CLIVAR panels, observing system scientists and leaders together with invited speakers from developing rim nations to discuss priorities and cross-cutting strategies as well as explore new partnerships for the expansion of the regional ocean observing systems.
