Job description

As part of our growth ambitions, we seek a new colleague who is passionate about doing high-quality research and deliver excellent education related to Corporate Governance and Board Dynamics. Among relevant research topics are board dynamics, a behavioural perspective on boards’ work, corporate governance for good life, diversity and inclusion in boards, and many more. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of relevant research published in top tier journals and experience with education at both MSc and executive education levels. The position is embedded in a supportive international work environment of the Management and Organisation Department of the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Your duties

  • Initiate and perform high-quality research in the field of Corporate Governance and Board Dynamics, culminating in top tier publications and grant acquisitions
  • Contribute to the VU Knowledge Hub for Boards Research and Leadership
  • Teach and design courses at the executive level, master level (e.g., MSc Business Administration, and/or MBA and Executive MBA), and bachelor level (e.g., the SBE International Business Administration); supervise bachelor and master theses
  • Supervise PhD candidates
  • Contribute to the Department / School (e.g., by serving on committees)
  • Be committed to obtain a university teaching qualification, or to possess one already.

Requirements

  • Candidates are required to have a PhD in the domains of Corporate Governance and Board Dynamics, or a related field in the Social Sciences, and should be fluent in both English and Dutch. A strong track record of research publications in top tier journals is a strong asset.

What are we offering?

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of € 3,974 (scale 11) and a maximum of € 5,439 (scale 11), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 1 FTE.

The tenure track position involves research (40%) and teaching (60%). At the end of the second year a performance evaluation will take place. The Tenure Track Committee will review your file including the evaluation and advice on the continuation of your tenure track. In the fifth year, the Tenure Track Committee will review your file in order to decide upon the tenured assignment, based on the assessment criteria of the Tenure Track system at SBE.
