Open Position: Project assistant for an international project in the Weddell Sea (Antarctica) – Deadline 31 October 2024

Background

You will work in an international research team in the project “Weddell Sea Observatory of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Change” (WOBEC). The aim of WOBEC is to provide historical and recent data on the ecosystem in the eastern Weddell Sea for long-term studies and to design a “smart” monitoring framework that will enable systematic long-term monitoring for the coming decades. The WOBEC monitoring concept is being developed in close co-operation with stakeholders from industry, fisheries management, science and society. More information on WOBEC can be found here.

Tasks

  • Coordination of reporting and project publications (e.g. final report, policy brief, fact sheets, website)
  • Data management
  • Organization and documentation of project meetings (online and face-to-face)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in relevant subjects such as natural sciences, computer science, nature conservation, fisheries management, communication sciences, data science
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Extensive experience in data management
  • Experience in international research projects

Additional skills and knowledge

  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience in project management
  • International experience

This is a full-time position, limited to March 31st, 2027 and starts at April 1st, 2025 earliest. It is also suitable for part-time employment. The salary will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federation (Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes, TVöD Bund), up to salary level 9b. The place of employment will be Bremerhaven.
