The NIOZ administration is looking for an administrative employee who can support the financial department in Yerseke. This department currently consists of 6 employees divided over the NIOZ location Yerseke (2 employees) and the NIOZ location Texel (4 employees). The financial department also includes the purchasing department where a total of 3 employees work. This purchasing department is located on Texel.

THE ORGANIZATION

NIOZ, the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, is the national oceanographic institute and the Netherlands’ centre of expertise for the ocean, sea and coast. We promote fundamental understanding of marine systems, how they change, the role they play in climate and biodiversity, and how they can provide sustainable solutions for the society of the future. NIOZ employs approximately 350 colleagues of over 30 nationalities, divided over the main office on Texel and a department in Yerseke.

NIOZ also manages the national research vessels for the Dutch marine and maritime research community. NIOZ not only helps (inter)national science, but also companies, NGOs and policy makers to face the major challenges of our time. Because using and protecting our blue planet starts with understanding.

THE VACANCY

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to strengthen our financial department. In this role you are the first point of contact for the financial department in Yerseke and through your proactive attitude you can perform the tasks in a responsible manner. Furthermore, you know all colleagues and the colleagues know you and furthermore your door is always open for questions!

The task package consists of:

  • Provide support in the management and processing of debtors, creditors, cash and bank, projects and 1st line helpdesk for the financial package (UBW/ERP system).
  • Checking and supporting the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of financial administration.
  • Act as a point of contact for the financial department in Yerseke for relevant questions
  • Provide support for period closings
  • Regular coordination with the Finance department on Texel and the head of Finance

Requirements

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for a motivated candidate who can work well together. You are practical and see the work that needs to be done.

You also meet the following criteria:

  • At least a completed relevant MBO education or obtained through work experience.
  • Experience working in the finance department of an organization.
  • Team player with a hands-on mentality.
  • Working meticulously is second nature to you, and you independently reflect on the quality of your work.
  • Proactive, enterprising and responsible, with the ability to inspire others; you are persuasive.
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage.

THE CONDITIONS

  • An appointment at NIOZ is an appointment at NWO-I , for a period of 1 year for 20 to 24 hours per week, which will be converted into an appointment for an indefinite period if both parties are satisfied.
  • A neat classification in scale 7 in accordance with the CAO-WVOI , placement in the scale depends on your work experience and education level and direction.

  • 338 vacation hours per year based on a full-time work week of 40 hours.
  • Pension scheme via ABP, 8% holiday pay in May and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% in December.
