Home / Opportunities / Meetings, Workshops & Calls for Papers / EMB Science webinar: Discovery of animal life in the Ocean’s crust at deep-sea hydrothermal vents: implications for future research and management – 21 November 2024
On Thursday 21 November 2024, EMB will host its 43rd Third Thursday Science Webinar featuring Sabine Gollner who will present the results of a new document: “Animal life in the shallow subseafloor crust at deep-sea hydrothermal vents” and its implications for future research and management.
Sabine Gollner is a deep-sea benthic ecologist at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). Her current studies include biodiversity, connectivity and resilience of deep-sea hydrothermal vent fauna, as well as diversity and restoration of fauna after test-mining impact at polymetallic nodule fields.
This work is linked to recommendations made in EMB’s upcoming Future Science Brief on “Deep Sea Research and Management“.
