South Australia Strengthens Protection for Sharks and Rays

South Australia has introduced a fishing ban on several endangered and critically endangered shark and ray species. Effective from December 2024, the ban marks a victory for marine biodiversity and sets a precedent for other regions to follow. It responds to years of advocacy by conservation groups, researchers, divers and community members.
