Vacancy Natural Capital Assessment – Project Manager
SAERI is currently recruiting for the post of Natural Capital Assessment Project Manager.
The Natural Capital Assessment Project is being funded by Defra, through the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee. SAERI has been tasked with undertaking Natural Capital Assessments for the South Atlantic Overseas Territories (UKOTs).
The Natural Capital Assessment will be a process that aims to assess the value of the OT’s Natural Capital (total economic value), establishes the distribution of these assets (value mapping) and develops procedures to monitor changes to this natural capital through time using appropriate attributes (developing metrics).
A Natural Capital Assessment will be undertaken in the Falkland Islands (year one) with a roll-out of the model developed to the other South Atlantic United Kingdom Overseas Territories in year two.
The position will coordinate the implementation of the project, project management support will be provided by SAERI. There are specialist key outputs e.g. ascertaining Total Economic Values (TEV) and producing value maps that the project manager will lead on developing therefore the technical competencies of the role require expertise in environmental economics ideally at PhD level.
The position is for a fixed-term 18 month contract. The position will be based in the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute’s (SAERI) head office in Stanley, Falkland Islands. Travel to Europe and the other relevant Overseas Territories may be required. The NCA Project Manager will report to the Deputy Director SAERI
This post is at Grade C – starting £34,682 and is a full-time role
