Job Summary
Cardno has an opportunity for a Marine Biologist to help support our federal environmental planning programs, with a particular focus on the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, and Mediterranean. Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to environmental assessments and associated studies and environmental permitting for a variety of projects in the marine environment. Projects may include or involve interpretation of fish and fish habitat surveys, environmental effects monitoring programs, sea bird surveys, marine mammal surveys, benthic habitat surveys, botanical and wildlife surveys, species at risk surveys, assessing impacts to marine species from in-water acoustic sources, and potential impact to multiple taxa in different habitats among others, as they relate to development in the marine environment. This position will provide important support to environmental planning documentation evaluating potential effects from U.S. Navy at-sea training.
Skills/Qualifications:
> BS and / or Masters in Biology or Marine Biology;
> 5+ years of experience applying learned skills in Biology with particular emphasis in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean;
> Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills;
> Knowledge of applicable federal environmental regulations as it relates to the marine environment?
> Experience preparing environmental assessments/ impact statements pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA);
> Experience scoping, completing and participating in the regulatory review process for the marine component of large multiÂdisciplinary environmental assessments/ impact statements?
> Demonstrated experience and strong desire for multiÂdisciplinary internal collaboration, and proposal development? Demonstrated technical writing skills and strong verbal communication?
> Willingness to travel for project work?
> Strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies.
