Making Waves for Marine Rewilding

Sussex Bay is the recipient of £100,000 from the Rewilding Challenge Fund to restore 100 miles of coastline, from Chichester to Kent, so the Bay becomes a place where the seascape and communities flourish. The project aims to deliver a pioneering seascape-scale strategy in collaboration with more than 200 partners, including local authorities, charities and community groups. The funding will enable Sussex Bay to accelerate their plans and increase nature-led recovery of habitats, such as oyster beds and saltmarsh, whilst creating jobs and training opportunities for local people. Sussex Bay is also working with the Sussex Dolphin Project to enable students to complete training with Sussex Bay cetaceans. The funding is awarded by Rewilding Britain and will support several pilot projects and facilitate the dissemination of valuable insights and experiences to fellow rewilders throughout the Rewilding Network.
