The Optical Oceanography Lab of the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida (USF) is offering a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the field of coastal ocean color research and applications. We are seeking an outstanding scientist with a recent doctorate in aquatic science, remote sensing, or a closely related field to work on Federal and state funded projects.

Minimum:  Doctoral degree in aquatic science, remote sensing, or closely related field. Strong programming skills and willingness to work with interdisciplinary research teams are required.

Preferred:  The successful candidate should demonstrate excellence in scholarly productivity in either field research, atmospheric correction, bio-optical inversion, or inter-disciplinary science. The successful candidate is expected to make significant improvements in remote sensing algorithms to assess algal blooms, optical water quality, and biogeochemical properties in coastal and inland waters. The successful candidate is also expected to derive customized and validated data products and apply these products in addressing inter-disciplinary Earth Science questions.

The position is available immediately, with an initial 1-year appointment. The appointment can be extended, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. Salary is commensurable with experience.
