The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research GmbH is an independent research and teaching institute that provides scientific knowledge for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. To this end, we work in an inter- and transdisciplinary manner with our partners in the tropics. The ZMT is a member of the Leibniz Association.

We are hiring: Officer of Knowledge Exchange Within the project sea4soCiety, (Reference: 2-BMBF) sea4soCiety aims to develop innovative approaches to enhance the potential for carbon sequestration in coastal ecosystems in Germany and worldwide. In an innovative and participatory approach, new governance systems will be designed to address local needs for ecosystem services in addition to mitigating climate change through »blue carbon« sequestration. The knowledge gained will be translated into solution-oriented action knowledge for politics, business and civil society in order to support political and societal decision-making processes in a scientifically sound manner in the regional, national and international context.

Tasks:

  • Collaboration in the sea4society project network and advising project partners in the context of participation of stakeholders outside the scientific community, primarily the rural population
  • Planning, implementation, moderation and evaluation of stakeholder workshops (September 2023) in Malaysia (probably in the Terengganu region) in cooperation with German partner institutes and local partners
  • Contribution to the creation of communication products for stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed studies in social, cultural or marine sciences, or comparable training
  • Fluency and negotiation skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Experience in the planning, implementation, moderation and evaluation of events and participation formats, such as stakeholder workshops
  • Experience in scientific and intercultural cooperation
  • Willingness to cooperate closely with project partners and to work together with colleagues at the ZMT and the partner institutes on an interdisciplinary basis

Details:

Salary will be paid according to the German TV-L (EG11). The post will be filled as a part-time position (50%) starting in June 2023 for 12 months. ZMT is an equal opportunity employer.
