About ECSA

ECSA is an interdisciplinary, non-profit organisation that mainstreams the democratisation of science. It supports the research, design and development of various aspects of citizen science. Among other roles, it carries out research on citizen science, develops communities of practice within the field, and promotes knowledge exchange across Europe.

Project tasks BIO-Agora / ACCTING

  • Mapping citizen science infrastructure for monitoring biodiversity
  • Writing Operational guidelines and recommendations
  • Identifying criteria to assess policy impact
  • In depths analyses of citizen science initiatives
  • Identify preconditions for policy uptake and cross scale integration of the initiatives
  • Write recommendations on integration of citizen science into policy at local, national and EU scales

Participation in ECSA’s community tasks

  • Contribute to organizational tasks
  • Work on proposals to fund new projects
  • Contribute to ECSA’s work on accessibility, visibility and inclusivity

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • High interest in the EU research agenda, the EU Green Deal and the Horizon Europe funding scheme
  • Experience in writing policy recommendations or similar experience
  • Familiarity with current developments and central stakeholders in the field of citizen science
  • Confidence in the use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and social media platforms
  • Excellent communication skills with a high standard of written and spoken English; German language skills and other European languages are an advantage
  • Availability for international travel
  • Experience in project management and proven ability to manage multiple strands of work and competing demands on your time
  • Proactive team-player with high level of initiative and self-management skills
