Join the Sierra Club Canada Foundation on July 28 at 1 pm US/Canada Eastern Time for a presentation by Richard Galbraith of Fisheries and Oceans Canada on climate change and its impacts on the Gulf of Saint-Lawrence marine ecosystem. The waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence can be separated into three layers in summer: a surface layer in thermal equilibrium with the atmosphere, a deep layer that comes in from the ocean, and between them a Cold Intermediate Layer formed during the preceding winter. Long term temperature trends of these layers are presented and related to climate change warming, with a quick look at the decreasing sea ice cover.
