The importance of functional groups in the management and restoration of neotropical mangroves
Luis Ernesto Arruda Bezerra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Ceará (2001), a Full Degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Ceará (2003), a Master’s Degree in Tropical Marine Sciences from the Federal University of Ceará (2005), a PhD in Oceanography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2009), and Post-Doctorate from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2012) as a scholarship holder of the CAPES National Post-Doctoral Plan. He is currently Adjunct Professor II at the Institute of Marine Sciences (LABOMAR) at the Federal University of Ceará. Luis Ernesto was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Tropical Marine Sciences at the Instituto de Ciências do Mar (LABOMAR), at UFC (2019-2022), is currently the Vice-Coordinator of the PPG Tropical Marine Sciences and Vice-Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Systematics, Use and Conservation of Biodiversity of the Department of Biology at UFC. He was a fellow of the Special Training Program (PET) and monitor of the Zoology disciplines of the Biology Department/UFC. He has published 67 articles in specialized journals (Factor H: 15), one book, 11 book chapters, 14 technical reports and 133 papers in event proceedings. He participates in 3 research projects at the Federal University of Ceará. He completed his PhD internship with a CAPES grant at the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, USA) and at the American Museum of Natural History (New York City, USA) (2007-2008). He was the Editor of the Marine Invertebrates Area for the ​​Check List Journal and Associate Editor of Nauplius Magazine. He is the Editor of the Biological Oceanography Area for the journal Arquivos de Ciências do Mar and Area Editor for the Zookeys and Biodiversity Data Journal. He is the current curator of the carcinology collection of the UFC Institute of Marine Sciences. Currently, he is Chief Scientist in Environment of the Government of the State of Ceará; CTI regional strategic program of, which articulates science for decision-making and public policy formulation. Has experience in the area of ​​Systematics and Ecology of Crustaceans and Ecology of Mangroves.
